Ferrari 499Ps at Le Mans after three consecutive triumphs

Written by

Ferrari is expected at the Circuit de La Sarthe for the third round of the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship, the 94th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, which will take place on 13-14 June, with the green flag scheduled for 4 p.m. on Saturday (local time).

One year after the third consecutive success for the 499P, the Prancing Horse crews return to the 13.626-kilometre French circuit where the roots of the endurance racing legend run deep, and where the crews of the Maranello Brand secured three consecutive victories in recent editions, the latest of which, in 2025, came with the number 83 499P shared by Yifei Ye, Phil Hanson and Robert Kubica.

A tough challenge. The most eagerly awaited round of the world championship calendar sees the number 50 and 51 499Ps of the official Ferrari – AF Corse team entered in the top class, alongside the number 83 of the privateer AF Corse team: line-ups expected to take on the immensely difficult Le Mans challenge with the aim of achieving the best possible result in the race which, not only in terms of prestige and history, but also because of the double points on offer, represents the most important event of the year.

In recent seasons the Ferrari 499Ps have alternated on the top step of the podium, helping to write indelible pages in the history of the Maranello manufacturer, thanks to the victories of the number 51 and 50 crews, respectively in the Centenary edition contested in 2023 and in 2024, and of the trio at the wheel of the number 83 Ferrari, which triumphed in 2025.

Start of the season. The Ferraris return to action after contesting the opening two rounds of 2026 at Imola and Spa-Francorchamps. In Italy Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado and Antonio Giovinazzi, reigning Drivers’ world champions, claimed pole position with the number 51 499P and finished the race in second place, while Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina and Nicklas Nielsen finished sixth; Ferrari official drivers Yifei Ye and Phil Hanson, together with Robert Kubica, finished tenth in the number 83 car.

In Belgium, meanwhile, the best Ferrari was the number 50, third, followed in sixth place by the 83, while the 51 was forced to retire following contact.

The situation. In the Manufacturers’ World Championship standings Ferrari is third on 42 points, 17 behind the leaders; in the Drivers’ world championship standings Fuoco-Molina-Nielsen are sixth on 23 points (12 points behind the leader); Pier Guidi-Calado-Giovinazzi are seventh, Ye-Hanson-Kubica 11th, on 19 and 9 points respectively. As mentioned, the 24 Hours of Le Mans awards double points compared to a race over the 6-hour distance: first position gives 50 points.

Live streaming. Fans will be able to follow the Hyperpole and the entire race from the “cockpit” of the 499Ps thanks to the on-board cameras on the number 50, 51 and 83 cars, with live coverage on Ferrari’s official YouTube channel; as last year, moreover, the tifosi will also have free access to the on-board camera of the number 54 Vista AF Corse 296 LMGT3 Evo.

Special initiatives. The Ferrari Museum in Maranello will remain open until midnight on Saturday, 13 June (last admission at 11.15 p.m., with a special ticket price: 18 euros), with the opportunity to watch the live race broadcast from the Convention Hall; live coverage will also continue on Sunday (from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; admission subject to available places). At the Museum on Saturday from 7.30 to 10.30 p.m. free guided tours in Italian and English are scheduled, and at 9.30 p.m. in Italian sign language (LIS). The programme. After the Pesage, the scrutineering in the town centre involving the 499Ps on Saturday, 6 June, the cars will take to the track on Sunday, 7 for the Test Day, which includes two free practice sessions, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 3.30 to 6.30 p.m. On Wednesday, 10 there will be two further free practice sessions (2 to 5 p.m., 10 p.m. to midnight), interspersed with Qualifying, from 7.30 to 8 p.m., which will allow the best cars to progress to the decisive sessions that determine the starting grid.
