Andrew and Ross finished the two-hour race fourth overall and third in the GT3 Pro-Am class, meaning they will contend for both crowns at the Brands Hatch finale on September 26-27.

Their fifth Pro-Am podium of the season came after a commanding performance in a challenging race that began in wet conditions and ended dry, leading to a number of different strategies being employed by the full grid of GT3 teams.

Having qualified fifth in Pro-Am and ninth overall, it was Andrew who took the start in the worst of the weather, his dogged determination apparent he lapped in the wet without a working windscreen wiper!

The two-time overall series champion, who will retire from driving at the end of the year, opted not to follow some of the earlier pitters and instead kept his wet tyres on until the mandatory mid-race driver changes, nursing them to the one-hour mark on an almost totally dry circuit.

He handed over the car to Ross at the pitstop lying fifth overall and third in Pro-Am and the Aston Martin works driver proceeded to turn in a consistent run to the finish to come home fourth in the outright order while maintaining his Pro-Am podium.

The season concludes in three weeks’ time.

Andrew Howard, Team Principal: “It was a pretty tough weekend, so to come away with a Pro-Am podium is a good result. The Aston Martin has always been a better race car than a one-lap car so we know we’re always going to be more competitive on Sundays. I had a 100 per cent dry set-up on for the wet start and the windscreen wiper didn’t work, so it was a bit lairy, but we made it through and Ross did a good job in his stint. Now we go to Brands Hatch with a chance of winning the overall and Pro-Am titles, but I’m not going to think about that. I’m going to my last ever British GT race with the aim of winning. If I can do that, I’ll let the racing gods decide if it’s enough for the title.”
