Citroën Racing is opening a new chapter in its Formula E story.

Ahead of Season 13, which will mark the competitive debut of GEN4, the team today unveils the final livery of its new single-seater as well as an evolution of its sporting organisation. After concluding its maiden campaign fifth in the Teams’ Championship, with a victory, several podiums, a pole position and an award-winning visual identity, Citroën Racing now enters its second season with a clear ambition: to build on the foundations already established and take another step forward.

For its second season in Formula E, Citroën has chosen to evolve rather than reinvent the visual codes introduced during its first campaign.

Created by the same Citroën Design teams that work on the brand’s production cars, this new identity creates a direct link between road and racing.

As Pierre Leclercq, Head of Citroën Design, explains, the objective was to “retain the strong identity developed last season while adapting it to the more dynamic character of GEN4.” The more metallic finishes have also been designed so that “the car truly comes to life when it catches the light”, while the gradient is based on a parametric use of the chevrons, whose density progressively changes between the different shades.

DESIGN IN THE SERVICE OF PERFORMANCE

With GEN4, every detail matters, including the livery. On a single seater car where the pursuit of performance also depends on controlling weight, the teams have worked to minimize the mass of the wrap as much as possible.

The parametric principle used for the chevrons also allows transitions to be created between the different colors without unnecessarily multiplying layers of material.

The livery therefore becomes an illustration of the GEN4 philosophy in itself: combining identity, innovation and efficiency down to the smallest detail.

GEN4 – KEY FIGURES

The Citroën Racing GEN4 will be displayed for the first time in its final livery at the Paris Motor Show, in Hall 4.

A STRENGTHENED LEADERSHIP TEAM FOR SEASON 13

The beginning of the GEN4 era also brings an evolution to the sporting structure of Citroën Racing Formula E Team.

After supporting the team as Managing Director throughout its first season, Beth Paretta is appointed Team Principal, ensuring strong continuity as the program enters a new phase of its development.

Beth Paretta brings extensive motorsport experience spanning team management, the automotive industry and sporting governance. Before joining Citroën Racing, she notably served as Vice President of Sporting at Formula E, working at the heart of the championship alongside teams, manufacturers and the FIA.

Her career also includes several senior leadership positions in the automotive and motorsport industries, as well as the creation of Paretta Autosport, the first INDYCAR team to compete with a strong female representation. Launched in 2021, the team made a historic debut at the Indianapolis 500, with women representing more than 65% of its workforce. Her career also includes senior roles within Volkswagen Group, Aston Martin and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, where she became the first woman to lead both a performance brand and the group’s global motorsport portfolio.

After joining the team last season, her knowledge of the team, combined with her experience of the championship, will allow her to continue the work already underway while supporting the program’s sporting ambitions in the GEN4 era.

Alongside her, Frédéric Espinos joins Citroën Racing Formula E Team as Competition Director & Deputy Team Principal.

Present in the Formula E world since the championship’s early days, Frédéric Espinos brings extensive sporting and operational experience in the series. After contributing to Formula E’s first years from within the FIA, he later joined the championship organization as Sporting Director, a position he held for several seasons.

In 2022, he joined ABT as the team returned to Formula E. Initially appointed Sporting Director, his role progressively evolved to Deputy Team Principal of Lola Yamaha ABT, making him one of the key figures within the organization during his four seasons with the team.

With Jean-Éric Vergne and Nick Cassidy retained for Season 12, the foundations will be strong alongside this new management team, united by one common ambition: to fight at the front from the very beginning of the season.

Beth Paretta, Citroën Racing Formula E Team - Team Prinicipal :

“GEN4 brings a huge opportunity for the entire championship. This is much more than an evolution of the previous car: it is faster, more powerful and technologically more advanced, and it will change the way we approach race weekends.

For Citroën Racing, success will be about making the most of that opportunity from the very beginning. We feel well prepared, we have the strength and expertise of Stellantis Motorsport behind us, and we have a brand that is fully committed to the programme. Our objective is to translate all of that into being competitive out of the gate with strong performance on track.

Formula E is important for Citroen strategically as it provides the opportunity to push electric technologies through competition which, in turn, will make future Citroen Road cars better. I am excited to be aligned with Citroën because it is a brand for all people, and I love the fact that our fans can support the team on track while having a Citroën as part of their everyday lives. Racing, technology and that connection with people all come together here, and that makes this project very special.”

Frederic Espinos, Competition Director & Deputy Team Principal - Citroën Racing Formula E Team:

“I’m very proud to join the team at such an important stage in its development. This is a project that brings together many of the ingredients needed to succeed: a brand with a strong motorsport heritage, an experienced team, two top-level drivers and a clear ambition as we enter the GEN4 era. I’m very happy to bring my Formula E experience to this group and to work alongside Beth and the entire team. We have a lot of work ahead of us, but the objective is clear: to be ready from the very start of the season.”
