Friday 13 February saw the first night race of the season which brought added drama and unpredictability, with the introduction of Pit Boost and a solo six-minute Attack Mode format. The race format kept teams and drivers guessing throughout an intense and strategically complex contest under the floodlights.
True to form, Nick produced one of the standout performances of the evening, climbing from P13 on the grid to finish P6. A well-timed late Attack Mode deployment proved decisive, allowing the New Zealander to maximise the additional power in the closing stages and carve his way through the field. His determined drive secured valuable championship points and positions him P2 in the Drivers’ Championship standings as the season gathers momentum.
On the other side of the garage, two-time Formula E Champion Jean-Éric Vergne marked a major milestone with his 150th race start in the all-electric series. Beginning in P8, the Frenchman delivered a composed and intelligent performance despite struggling with a technical issue. In spite of this, he navigated the evolving strategies and energy management demands to finish P8 and mark the occasion by bringing home additional points for the team.
The combination of the first night race of the year, the debut of Pit Boost, and the strategic challenge of a single six-minute Attack Mode window created an absorbing spectacle. Energy management, timing and adaptability were decisive factors in a tightly contested field.
With both drivers finishing in the points in the first race of the Jeddah double-header, the team will now analyse data and driver feedback this evening to refine its approach ahead of Round 5 tomorrow and the second night race of the season.

Citroën Racing Formula E Team Principal Cyril Blais said:
“Overall, it was a positive race with both cars finishing in the points. JEV started and finished P8, and while that’s a solid result, we believe there was a bit more potential in the car today. Unfortunately, he experienced an issue that impacted his race pace, so we’ll analyse that carefully and make sure it’s resolved for tomorrow. We feel that he had the speed to fight higher up. Nick delivered a very strong performance, climbing from P13 to P6. In the first Pit Boost race of the season, strategy and execution were key, and I think we managed it well — perhaps not perfectly, but cleanly and effectively. Our objective is always to have both cars scoring, and we achieved that."
"It’s not yet exactly where we want to be in terms of overall performance, but we will work hard tonight to improve further ahead of the race tomorrow. After a difficult race in Miami, it’s important to bounce back with both drivers bringing home solid points especially on such an unforgiving track. We’ll take the positives and the lessons from today into tomorrow."
Citroën Racing Formula E Team Driver Nick Cassidy said:
I think we delivered a strong race and gave it everything we had. I’m happy to come away with solid points, especially after starting P13, but to be honest we’re still missing a bit of pace. We just weren’t quite quick enough today. I didn’t feel like I had the same level of grip as some of the cars around me, which made it challenging at times. That said, we were efficient in the first half of the race and overall, it was a clean execution from the team. The positive of a double-header is that we get another opportunity tomorrow. We’ll work hard tonight to find improvements and aim to come back stronger in the second race."
Citroën Racing Formula E Team Driver Jean-Éric Vergne said:
"It wasn’t my best race. We had a technical issue with the energy management, which meant I didn’t have the full picture. It felt like I was driving half blind at times, and in a race like this, with so many strategic variables, that really doesn’t make things easy. I did what I could with what I had and focused on bringing the car home in the points. Considering the circumstances, P8 is not a bad result, but of course we always want more, and it felt like there was definitely potential for a stronger finish today. We understand the issue, and it’s the first time we’ve experienced it so I’m confident the team will fix it overnight. We have another opportunity tomorrow, and we’re fully focused on coming back stronger in the second race."
