With Taylor Barnard and Maximilian Günther starting from sixth and 12th on the grid respectively, DS PENSKE stood a strong chance of achieving its goal. The pace shown the previous day was promising, with the team setting fastest lap of the race.
Following today’s hotly-contested encounter that was characterised by several penalties, the two representatives of the French premium brand showed once more that the DS E-TENSE FE25 had all the necessary potential to fight at the front. As the race reached its closing stages, Taylor Barnard was battling for the top five, while Maximilian Gunther had the chance to secure a top 10 finish.
But fortune did not favour them on the twisty streets of the principality. The young Briton was forced to retire after trying to pull off a brave overtaking move on the entry to the tunnel, while his German team mate was handed a penalty that dropped him from 10th to 13th place after the chequered flag.
Following Monaco, the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship will head next to Sanya, where DS Automobiles triumphed in 2019. The Chinese city will host the 11th round of the Formula E season on June 20.

Taylor Barnard:
“I had several incidents during the race, and one of them was completely my fault, so I have to apologise for that. In terms of performance, we still need to make progress and unlock a bit more race pace over the rest of the season. The team did an incredible job in qualifying. I had a great car, which let me qualify sixth on Sunday. Now we just can’t wait for the next race. »
Maximilian Günther:
“The day got off to a great start with third-quickest time in free practice, and I felt really good in the car. We started from 12th on the grid and did our best to find the right balance between optimising track position and energy management. We didn’t quite have the same pace today as we did yesterday, but we still could have scored some points. Unfortunately a penalty that I don’t agree with meant we weren’t able to secure a top 10 finish. Now we must focus on China and do everything we can to come back stronger. We demonstrated a lot of potential this weekend and we still have the chance to show what we are capable of. I’m really keen to get to Sanya.”
