The FIA Formula 2 Championship has announced today its 2027 calendar, featuring 14 rounds across Asia, Oceania, Europe and the American continent, with two new venues joining the schedule and the return of Montreal, after its successful addition to the 2026 season.

The 2027 season will welcome Istanbul and Mexico City to the F2 calendar, with both events taking place in October. Their addition creates a more balanced championship schedule, reducing the previously extended gap ahead of the final two rounds in Lusail and Yas Island.

The 2027 campaign will get underway in Sakhir, Bahrain, in March, alongside Formula 1, before the field heads directly to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, one week later. From there, the Championship will travel to Melbourne, Australia, before going to Montreal, Canada.

The European leg to the season will begin in June at Monaco, home to one of the most prestigious rounds of the year, as well as one of the most challenging circuits on the calendar. The action will then continue in July at Silverstone, Great Britain, and Spielberg, Austria, back-to-back before the summer break.

September will provide a thrilling three-round stretch, beginning at Monza, Italy, followed by Madrid, Spain, and concluding at the Baku City Circuit in Azerbaijan.

In October, Formula 2 will visit Istanbul, Türkiye, for its first race weekend at the demanding circuit, which is making its return to the Formula 1 calendar. The Championship will then head to Mexico City, Mexico, for another highly anticipated new addition to the calendar.

The addition of Mexico City to the F2 calendar was confirmed today during a press conference attended by FIA Formula 2 CEO Bruno Michel, Alejandra Frausto, Ministry of Tourism of Mexico City, Formula 1 Gran Premio de la ciudad de Mexico Managing Director Federico Gonzalez Compean and FIA Formula 2 drivers Rafael Villagomez and Noel Leon.

The 2027 season will conclude in December with two consecutive race weekends, first at Lusail, Qatar, before the Championship travels to Yas Island, UAE, for the season finale.

Mohammed Ben Sulayem, FIA President said: ““The 2027 FIA Formula 2 Championship calendar reflects the continued strength and global growth of an important championship at the heart of our driver development pathway. The addition of Istanbul and Mexico City will bring Formula 2 to new audiences and give the next generation of talent the opportunity to compete on an even greater variety of circuits around the world. Alongside the return to Montreal, these additions further strengthen a truly international calendar across four continents.

“I look forward to another exciting season and to seeing the stars of the future continue their journey towards the highest levels of our sport.”

Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1 said: “The 2027 FIA Formula 2 calendar will deliver another exciting season of racing across 14 rounds at some of the most iconic and challenging venues in world motorsport, including the addition of Istanbul and Mexico City. Formula 2 continues to play a vital role as the ultimate pathway to Formula 1, giving the most promising young drivers the opportunity to compete on the same stage as the pinnacle of our sport and showcase their talent to fans, teams and partners around the world. Year after year, the Championship delivers outstanding racing and helps develop the next generation of Formula 1 stars. I would like to thank the FIA President and their entire team, Bruno Michel and his team, as well as all our promoters, partners, officials, marshals and volunteers whose dedication and commitment make this Championship possible. I look forward to following another highly competitive season in 2027."

Bruno Michel, FIA Formula 2 CEO said: “I’m very excited to add three new venues in a financially sustainable way, with the return of Montreal following its surprise addition in 2026 and the first appearance of Istanbul and Mexico City. We will be covering freight costs so that the territorial expansion of the calendar does not financially impact our teams. With a calendar spanning four continents and a carefully distributed sequence of Rounds, the 2027 FIA Formula 2 Championship will offer teams and drivers a demanding and diverse season, while bringing the category to new audiences and strengthening its position as a global platform for the next generation of Formula 1 talent.”
