Alpine Cup Series came to a close at Circuit Paul Ricard

Written by

Double victory for its new title winner, Léo Jousset (Race Cars Consulting).

Junior Mathias Cazaux (Race Cars Consulting), Challenger Ivan Ovsienko (Chazel Technologie Course), Gentleman David Barrere (Herrero Racing), and the Race Cars Consulting team claimed the remaining titles on offer.

The Alpine ELF Cup Series will join the FFSA GT French Championship grid next year, where Alpine was crowned with Stéphane Lémeret and Stéphane Auriacombe.

Introduced at Le Castellet in 2018, the Alpine ELF Cup Series returned to Circuit Paul Ricard to conclude its eighth and last edition in its sprint format. As announced last Thursday, the A110 Cups will join the FFSA GT French Championship, where they will now be entrusted to two-driver crews for longer races, starting in 2026.

RACE 1: RACE CARS CONSULTING AND OVSIENKO CROWNED

Léo Jousset, who secured the title at the previous round in Mugello, resumed his dominance in free practice before claiming the first pole position of the weekend ahead of Mateo Herrero and Juniors Mathias Cazaux and Lazare Lartigau (Forestier Racing by VPS).

Despite an excellent start by Mateo Herrero, Léo Jousset retained the lead. Fifth on the grid, Romain Monti (Chazel Technologie Course) moved up to third place. Gentlemen category leader David Barrere was hit by Louka Desgranges (Chazel Events), dashing his hopes of clinching the title on Saturday.

As he has done several times this season, Léo Jousset pulled away inexorably with each lap. Meanwhile, Mathias Cazaux and Lazare Lartigau battled hard further back in the field. Fighting for the Juniors category crown, the two men were nevertheless surprised by Victor Weyrich (Herrero Racing).

Léo Jousset took a comfortable win ahead of Mateo Herrero and Romain Monti to secure the title for Race Cars Consulting in the Alpine ELF Cup Series Team Challenge. Behind Victor Weyrich, Mathias Cazaux regained the upper hand over Lazare Lartigau to finish fifth and best Junior. After Enzo Carvalhido (Sport Auto Racing) retired, Roee Meyuhas (Forestier Racing by VPS) finished seventh, followed by three Chazel Technologie Course drivers: Tom Verdier, Rodolphe Wallgren and Ivan Ovsienko, who sealed the Challengers category crown.

RACE 2: THE LAST CROWNS FOR CAZAUX AND BARRERE

Léo Jousset secured his ninth pole position of the season on Sunday, a record in the Alpine ELF Europa Cup history. Despite pressure from his rivals at the start, the Race Cars Consulting driver held on to the lead. Behind him, Victor Weyrich gained two places to move up to second ahead of Roee Meyuhas, who Romain Monti quickly threatened.

Once again, Léo Jousset quickly pulled away from the field. Further back, Mathias Cazaux had a minor scare at the entrance to the chicane on the Mistral straight, but he got back on track ahead of his rival for the Juniors title, Lazare Lartigau. However, Lartigau surprised him on the next lap.

Behind the leader, Victor Weyrich had to contend with the return of Roee Meyuhas. The American-Israeli driver found an opening on lap 12, but the Frenchman fought back immediately to regain the position. Meanwhile, Lazare Lartigau overtook Romain Monti, who was penalised five seconds for gaining an advantage off the track.

Léo Jousset won by nearly 15 seconds ahead of Victor Weyrich, who held off Roee Mehuyas. Lazare Lartigau finished fourth and first in the Juniors category, but fifth place was more than Mathias Cazaux needed to seal the category title. Mateo Herrero finished sixth, ahead of Romain Monti, Enzo Carvalhido and Louka Desgranges. David Barrere completed the top ten and is this year’s Gentlemen class champion thanks to his fifth victory of the season.

ALPINE WINS ANOTHER TITLE IN THE FFSA GT FRENCH CHAMPIONSHIP

GT4 International Cup winner in 2018, 2023 FFSA GT French Championship title winner, and 2024 GT4 European Series champion last year, the GT4 version of the Alpine A110 also claimed another title in France.

Having competed in the Alpine ELF Cup Series and finished runners-up in the Am category in 2024, Stéphane Lémeret and Stéphane Auriacombe arrived at Circuit Paul Ricard as clear leaders. Starting from pole in his class, the Belgian driver pulled away before returning to the pits with a puncture. Although victory slipped away, the CMR crew's fourth place was enough to seal the deal. The duo then ended their campaign in style with a win on Sunday.

A driver in the A110 Cup before getting behind the wheel of the A110 GT4 Evo, Gaspard Simon also had a near-perfect weekend to become the first winner of the SRO GT Académie. He won €150,000 and coaching from SRO and the FFSA Academy to compete in the 2026 GT World Challenge Europe.

These links perfectly highlights the decision to integrate the Alpine ELF Cup Series into the FFSA GT French Championship from next year onwards, thereby establishing a pyramid that can lead young talent towards a potential professional career. In its new 2-driver crew format, the Alpine ELF Cup Series will resume from 3 to 6 April 2026 at Nogaro.

QUOTES

Mathias Cazaux (Juniors category champion)

"One of my main goals was to win the Juniors title. We've done that, even though I would have liked to finish with a better race. I did what I had to do, and above all, it's a pleasure and a joy. The most memorable challenge of the year was undoubtedly competing against the Pro category drivers. Throughout the season, we showed that we can compete with drivers who have a proven track record. The competition was very tough, and I think we proved that we are fast. We also won the team title with Léo Jousset and Anthony Fournier. It's very satisfying to have succeeded in representing Race Cars Consulting, and I'm very happy for the entire staff. Now it's time to celebrate!"

Ivan Ovsienko (Challengers category champion)

"I am thrilled to win the Challengers title. I have worked all year for this, and it hasn't been easy, considering all the long journeys to come and race in Europe. This crown is a reward for all that effort, and I want to thank the Chazel Technologie Course team and my competitors for this exciting season. My biggest challenge was learning how to use Michelin tyres, which were new to me this year, as well as adapting to a different approach to racing. I really enjoyed driving the Alpine. It is really exciting, similar to competitive go-karts, and perfectly suited to my driving style."

David Barrere (Gentlemen category champion)

"Winning the Gentlemen category in my debut season in the Alpine ELF Cup Series is hugely satisfying and a wonderful surprise. I found what I was looking for: the pleasure of driving this car and, above all, the pleasure of sharing the track with some fantastic rivals. It's been a fabulous campaign. Consistency was the key. It wasn't easy to get to know a new car and learn how to get the best of the slick tyres, but I worked hard to improve. That said, we have to be realistic: some competitors were unable to compete in all the races, which undoubtedly influenced the classification. In any case, consistency paid off and my only regret is that I waited so long to have a go at it!"
